TODAY
February 1980
This is 20 years of the closest I have ever been to anything!
notice were my right fore arm rested
on stage with the Strat
a very special back plate
The Telecaster

My stage guitar at the time is a
Fender Telecaster I got in 1994. I
had a guitar tech/player friend that
set it up with EMG pickups. They
give the naturally twangy
Telecaster warmth. Which is nice
when your in Overdrive playing
Rock and Roll. With a touch of
compression it has become an
overall sound guitar for me, and it
plays great .
I always liked a white on
white with maple neck
Stratocaster
I picked this Fender Squires
at a Pawn Shop for $40.

My 1979 Anniversary Stratocaster has gone through a Major make over
It will never get a new Paint Job.
Stratoblaster Guitarist Jimmy Wallace
who sold me the Guitar at Arnold Morgan Music in Dallas Texas told me
The Greener the better!
I added an EMG-VG20 package to the Guitar. The VG stands for
Vince Gill. I love the tone he gets with his Strat. EMG produces pick-up
packages of "Famous" players.

Guitars are a weakness of mine. Electrics, Acoustics, GUITARS!   I got my 1st guitar for
my 10th Birthday. After 20 years of 5 to 6 nights a week, my hands seem to play by
themselves, It really amazes me that I play as well as I do.

My style grew out of a necessity of being the music in the band.
I had a drummer, and a bass guitarist, my guitar had to be the musical tones of the band.
With that I had to learn how to play  a lot of music, and at the same time with 3 vocalist,
not to overplay.

Great example of this, I was setting with friends at a club in North Dakota.  The band
playing was a 5 piece band, and they had some friends also playing on stage with them.
So we are talking about 7 people on stage playing and singing, at the same time! One of
the people at my table said to me,  what could these guys do to sound better? They were
loud and just a roar of sound. I looked at him and said, someone needs to quit playing!
Everyone was playing! There was, as I like to call it, no air in the sound. He looked at me
like I had solved a puzzle.

My stage guitar at the time is a Fender Telecaster I got in 1994 for my birthday. I had a

However, most of the guitar work done on my current recordings that you are hearing on
this website is my 1979 Anniversary Fender Stratocaster. This guitar is a staple of the
Fender guitar world. It has a great sound and it worked very well in my sound up until the
Telecaster. The Strat is now in semi-retirement. I have plans to set it up with set of EMG
pickups, the kind in the Tele. I can hardly wait.

As you can see!
This was a working Guitar! It
hasn't seen the stage since
December '94
however I recorded with it
quite a bit since,  the sound
on tape is enjoyable to listen
to. It was a Silver
Anniversary , It turned
Green from the Smoke!
Clubs!
The little Texas Logo was
taken from a Local Dallas
radio Station sticker. When I
had the Neck of the guitar
redone, it was lacquered into
the headstock.
