The Road.
A History of Terry Glen Miller
December 1979 was the starting point of me deciding that I wanted to have my own
Band and Travel "The Road".
I had started playing the guitar when I was 10 years old. I was always involved in
playing and singing whether playing with my Brothers, or with Friends from School.
Early in 1979, I started playing 5 nights a week at a nightclub in Lake Tawakoni Texas.
"The Silver Spur". Working on my "chops", and learning a ton of songs even ended up
as one of the Lead Vocalist.
I met my first Bass Player at that club. The late Mr. Glen Wofford decided he would take
on the challenge with me to put a band on the road. It was at that time the Terry Miller
Band was born.
Glen and I traveled together for nearly 15 years. Our 1st job was down South to a little
Texas town called,Alice, from there we took a haul all the way to Miles City, Montana.
Talking about "Green" We learned our lesson from the start. We pretty much stayed in
the North Central United States from then on out.
Occasionally making our way back to Texas to get a reality check. We went through
about 15 Drummers while traveling as a Three Piece Band!
I will first say , that I have a brother that is a drummer, Kerry Ken Miller, so i have nothing against drummers! I have played with a many a drummer in my life of 20+ years on the road, so I will only touch on a few stories and speak of a few that were at the top of their game and are no longer with us.

Here's a great little Drummer Road Story.
The drummer we had at the time decided he
needed to do , or play with someone else so
we needed a drummer! That story can be used
for most of the Road Stories I have,
The band, which was Glen and I had a gig at a
high school prom coming up, and then another
one night gig at in a place called " the Little
Horse Saloon" in Little Horse, South Dakota.

I recently received an email from Tom's
wife Diane, she had mentioned that she
and Tom was talking about the band and
decided to hit the Internet and low and
behold he sees the website , knows it's
him being talked about and checked in!
Like a ghost from the past....
It's really good to see you are still out there!
Sorry to hear about Glen's passing. I have
many fond memories about being on the road
with you guys and enjoy spinning the tales to
my kids. I still play, much better than before,
and have often wanted to try my hand in
Nashville but as they say, there are a million
really good drummers out there in Nashville. I
currently work as a project manager for the IT
department of Tyson Foods Inc. There are a
lot of musicians up here in Fayetteville but, I
don't have much time to hook up for much
short/long term playing. I do teach
percussion/trap set as a side line project to
youngsters, when time permits, and play for
the church we attend - FBC Springdale.
Several bands I've been with over the past few
years have opened for some really good acts
like Hwy 101. I currently own a set of Sonor
drums and really enjoy the sound I get from
them and no, none of the cymbals have a
crack in them :).
Hope all is well and I really enjoyed the credit
on your web site.
Good luck out there!
Tommy
Hi, I'm Tom's wife. We started talking about
the band for some reason
and yahoo'ed you and found the site. What a
surprise that Tom was
"featured"! He got a good laugh out of it.
He's told me many stories about his road
experience with you. I think
he really had a great time.
Believe it or not, he went on to college, got
his MBA and has played
drums for different bands and occasions all
these years. His last
"gig"
was playing drums and congas for a mega
church in NW Arkansas.
He may want to write you and give you the
run down. He's settled down
nicely and has 3 boys and works in IT for
Tyson Foods.
Thanks for the funny story!
Diane

His name was Tom. From Nashville,
Arkansas(of all places) . Tom if and when you
read this, Thank you for your memory!
His Dad was a Arkansas Highway Patrolmen .I
can't remember how I found Tom, but he just
graduated from High School and I had to talk
with his Mom and Dad, to make sure I would
take care of Tom!, because "He did just get
out of High School!" I assured his Mother, and
his Dad, That we would take care of him. Did I
say we needed a drummer!!
Glen and I were waiting for Tom to come in on the Greyhound to, Chamberlien, South Dakota,
he was also shipping his drums in also on the same Grey. We saw a wooden case in the bus
Station addressed to him so we figured he must be pretty close behind his drums.
The bus rolled in at the right time, we waited, off the Bus cam this tall lanky blond haired boy,
with a orange ballcap, orange shirt, orange tennis shoes. I looked at Glen, He looked at me.
This was TOM!
